Near the end of the loop, a tiny rock arch is visible near the kodachroe of the foot cliffs. Take a left at the marked sign for the short detour to Panorama Point. We kodachome to hike the Panorama Trail in a counter clockwise direction, so we started out hiking towards the white rock mountain.

Many colorful canyons, mesas and arches can be explored by 4WD vehicle and hiking trails; particularly notable areas are Cottonwood Canyon and the Paria River and its tributaries. Great views of all different rock formations and very few people in the park.

After cresting the short ridge, the trail forks for the first time, pqrk the beginning of a large loop. The trail traverses rolling terrain, gentle slopes, all through washes and canyons, and as the name suggest, it leads to a beautiful panorama view of the park.

Beautiful scenery, but trail a little tight in a couple of places. Beautiful, diverse, uncrowded, and dog-friendly.

I did the whole Six miles and found it to be more easy than moderate. These are the most distinctive features in the park, and are large columns of sedimentary rock that arise from the basin floor.

There’s not much shade but the views are spectacular. The “Cool Cave” was interesting to see and the view from Panorama Point is quite nice. It’s definitely a hidden little gem down South there.

From Panorama Point, return the 0. Aptly named, the overlook offers vistas in all directions, with only a small sliver of the horizon blocked by another hillside to the south. We were able to see all the highlights of the trail from a different view since were up a bit higher while ridding the horses at a nice slow pace. Beyond Mammoth Geyser, it is about yards to the next trail split, located at the base of a line of Entrada sandstone cliffs.

Dirt tracks lead from the near the park into a large wilderness area, at the south edge of which is Lake Powell. The sun was already beating down on my back, and I knew it was going to get hot quickly. Basin Campground is nestled right at the head of the basin, and offers views of one of the many sand pipes that the park is known for and the surrounded large white hills are within short walking distance from the campground.

We only hiked part of the trail since we were short on time but we still got to see the views, if kodachromd have the time you can go around the entire loop which is only 1.

We visited as a side trip from Bryce Canyon. These base layers hardened, and overtime erosion has exposed the softer layers, revealing “pipes”. The official Kodachrome Basin literature lists the Panorama Trail as being a 6-mile loop.
